Something truly glamorous strutted onto Versace's stage this past Sunday night in Paris. The lights dimmed around 9 p.m., the music started and the crowd gasped. Out explodes none other than Naomi Campbell onto the catwalk. This model-gone-rockstar hasn't walked for Versace since 1999 after having been a regular face in all shows since she was just 16.
Personally, I think Naomi was built for Versace. She is glamorous, intense, playful and stunning. She looks so beyond fierce and powerful in this style that it almost seems she should never let Versace out of her sight again. Watching Ms. Campbell fly down the runway with a huge smile plastered on her face must have given the audience that same feeling when you eat your grandma's cooking after a year away from home. Or at least that's what I'd feel. Her first appearance on stage was the warm broth running down your throat and the finale was scooping the last matzoh ball bite into your mouth. Just sayin'. Look at that bod-- she is 43 years old.
Naomi spoke about how this show was extremely emotional for her. Her long-time friend, Gianni Versace, was murdered in 1997. Since then, it's been hard for her to make a comeback. Thank God she did.
